Air Baltic to launch nonstop flights to Riga

Daily services will depart at 2.40pm. Air Baltic operates Boeing 737-500/300s to the Latvian capital with a typical flight time of approximately two hours. Air Baltic is selling one way tickets from €36. Ticket pricing is demand driven.

"The new flight will provide excellent connections to destinations in Scandinavia via, Russia and the CIS," says Tero Taskila, Chief Commercial Officer of Air Baltic. CIS members are former Soviet Union countries in which Air Baltic flies for example to Almaty, Baku, Minsk, Tashkent, and Tbilisi. Air Baltic is expanding its network quickly. Franfurt will already be the eleventh new route launched by the airline this summer. Earlier this year the carrier started flights from Riga to cities like Linkoping in Sweden ,Turku in Finland, Tromso in Norway, Tartu in Estonia, and Pskov in Russia. The current schedule shows more than 60 destinations being served by Air Baltic.

The carrier was founded in 1995. The Latvian government is the majority shareholder with 52.6% stake. Air Baltic operates a modern fleet of more that 30 aircraft, mostly Boeing 737s anf Fokker 50s. The airline uses Boeing 757-200s for long haul destinations. On board Air Baltic offers a two class configuration with business and economy class.
