Afriqiyah returns to China

Libyan flag carrier, Afriqiyah Airways will launch services to Beijing from the capital of Libya, Tripoli. The route will be operated on a twice-weekly rotation operated with A330-200 equipment. With only two carriers operating non-stop services from Africa to China, Air Algerie from Algiers to Beijing and Egyptair from Cairo to Beijing, Afriqyah will hope to take a share of the O+D market from Africa to China, which between July 2009 and 2010 was just short of the one million mark. Emirates is the major benefactor of this traffic with a 23% share of all traffic between the African continent and China.
