Jet2 veteran Ian Doubtfire has retired after 35 years with the UK leisure carrier and its predecessor Channel Express, including a period as Jet2’s managing director.
Doubtfire was managing director of Jet2 in the 2000s, but he switched to become business development director in August 2015.
“After 35 enjoyable years at Channel Express/Jet2 I have finally retired. It’s been a wonderful journey,” Doubtfire said in an April 6 post on LinkedIn. “I am confident the company will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
Doubtfire stepped down after launching Jet2’s 14th base at London Gatwick Airport.
Jet2 has grown from cargo carrier Channel Express into a major UK leisure airline. Doubtfire played a central role in this transformation, alongside Philip Meeson and Steve Heapy.
