IndiGo is expanding its network with two new domestic destinations, bringing to 90 the number of Indian airports it serves.
The carrier is adding Bikaner (BKB) in the state of Rajasthan, located in the northern part of India. From Feb. 7, India’s largest airline will operate daily nonstop service between BKB and New Delhi.
The new connection “offers convenient access to this growing tourist destination while boosting the economies of both cities,” IndiGo said in a statement. “This new route aims to promote tourism as well as trade.”
That route launch will come on the heels of IndiGo adding Puducherry (PNY), located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, to its domestic network. The airline started operating daily flights from PNY to both Bengaluru and Hyderabad on Dec. 20.
IndiGo said the two PNY routes aim to “attract a large number of people to explore the pristine beauty of this coastal town.”
The carrier also plans to launch two domestic routes connecting existing points in its network. From Feb. 6, IndiGo will open 3X-weekly service from Dehradun to both Bhubaneswar and Srinagar.
“By connecting various cities across the nation with convenient timings and schedules, we continue to enhance regional and domestic connectivity,” said Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s head of global sales.
Binaker will become the airline’s 127th destination overall. IndiGo’s latest international route launched when daily service commenced on Dec. 21 between Chennai, India, and Penang, Malaysia.
From New Delhi alone, IndiGo flies to 69 domestic airports and 19 international destinations.
