Alaska Airlines will next year start flights between Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon and Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY), marking its 55th destination served from PDX.
The PDX-MSY route will be operated daily with a Boeing 737 aircraft from Jan. 6 to May 14, 2025. The service will be exclusive to Alaska.
MSY Director Kevin Dolliole said in a statement that PDX "has been the top unserved destination from New Orleans.”
Alaska noted it is the largest carrier at PDX, with an average of more than 100 daily departures operating from the airport this summer. The carrier previously announced plans to add daily PDX-Atlanta flights starting Oct. 1.
“Until now, New Orleans was one of the largest U.S. markets without a nonstop from PDX,” said Dan Pippenger, Port of Portland's chief aviation officer. “Tens of thousands of travelers already fly between these two great cities every year, and we expect that number to only grow with this new nonstop service." The Port of Portland owns and manages PDX.
Alaska is building a 14,000-ft.2 lounge at PDX scheduled to open in 2026.
