ANA Holdings has announced that its subsidiary AirJapan will fly to Bangkok as its first destination and revealed more details about the widebody LCC’s product and services.
AirJapan is scheduled to operate its inaugural flight between Tokyo Narita Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on Feb. 9, 2024. The carrier had previously signaled that a February launch was likely, on a Southeast Asian route.
The carrier is designed to operate medium-haul international routes. ANA describes the AirJapan model as a hybrid of LCC and full-service elements. ANA Holdings also has LCC joint venture Peach in its stable. The AirJapan brand was announced in March 2022.
AirJapan will start with one Boeing 787-8 and aims to increase the fleet to six 787s by March 2025. The aircraft will be configured with 324 economy class seats.
The carrier has announced its initial pricing structure, with customized fare bundles offering options for checked baggage, meals, and seat selection. Meals can be pre-ordered from a selection of 13 choices. The carrier said passengers can watch a variety of movies and entertainment on their own mobile devices by connecting to inflight Wi-Fi free of charge.
