Russian authorities are focusing their investigation into the fatal Tatarstan Airlines Boeing 737-500 crash in Kazan on five possible causes.

GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has ordered five ATR 72-600s, and optioned five more, in a deal valued at $241 million at list prices.

Lufthansa has announced at the Dubai Air Show that it has selected CFM International’s CFM56-5B engine to power 30 A320ceos ordered in June 2013; the deal is valued at over $610 million.

Boeing launched the 777X program at the 2013 Dubai Air Show on Sunday with orders and commitments for 259 aircraft from Lufthansa (34), Etihad Airways (25), Qatar Airways (50) and Emirates (150) with a combined value of more than $95 billion at list prices.

A Tatarstan Airlines Boeing 737 has crashed on landing at Kazan airport. It is believed that all passengers and crew onboard were killed.

Engine makers were among the big winners on the opening day of the Dubai Air Show, collectively bagging orders for more than 1,000 engines as part of the airline order bonanza announced by Airbus and Boeing Nov. 17.

Flydubai announced Sunday at the Dubai Air Show that it has committed to order up to 100 Boeing 737 MAX-8s and 11 more 737-800s in deal valued at $11.4 billion at list prices.

Airways has placed firm orders for five Airbus A330-200 freighters, plus eight options, and signed a letter of intent for up to 50 Boeing 777-9Xs.
