I had to look at this photo twice to make sure it was an aircraft cabin—it looks more like a busy coffeehouse. This is a Western Air Express inaugural F.32 flight from New York to Los Angeles on April 7 and 8, 1930. It flew a maximum speed of 225 km/h.

Air Astana was incorporated in late 2001 and launched service May 15, 2002. The Kazakhstan government holds a 51% share in the airline through its Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, with BAE Systems holding the remaining 49% share. In 2011 Air Astana was admitted to the register of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and is the only Kazakhstan airline to maintain repeated audit success.
