Air France is celebrating its 80th anniversary with a year of dedications. The airline was inaugurated at Le Bourget Airport on Oct. 7, 1933 and was formed by the merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Société Générale de Transports Aériens, the CIDNA and Aéropostale.

For some critics, the outcome will be judged a failure unless a complete and firm resolution is reached. But that would be the wrong conclusion based on a flawed definition of success.
