Routes Asia 2023 will cement the upwards trajectory already seen across the region’s aviation recovery.

The removal of travel restrictions is spurring the recovery of international traffic for Routes Asia 2023 host Chiang Mai.

The Thai city has been announced as the host of the next Routes Asia in February 2023.

Routes Asia, which is held in a different location each year, brings together airlines, airports and tourism authorities to discuss air service strategy and future networks. Half of the region’s new air services are connected to meetings at the event.

Domestic competition in Thailand is set to intensify after Thai AirAsia started operations from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, adding to its existing hub at Don Mueang.

Routes Asia 2020 will take place in Chiang Mai, hosted by Airports of Thailand. Routes' brand director Steven Small said: “We are excited to be supporting AOT with their goal of growing Chiang Mai as an international hub and we are delighted to be taking this event back to Thailand."

More than 25 companies have confirmed to exhibit at the event in the Philippines city of Cebu next March.

The host of Routes Asia 2020 will be Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT), with the event taking place in the cultural city of Chiang Mai.
