US Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that US airlines employed 2% more workers in April compared to the same month last year. BTS said two network airlines, Alaska Airlines and United Airlines, decreased employment. Delta Air Lines reported 4.5% more workers in April 2011 than in April 2010. Continental Airlines, which now includes employees that formerly worked for Continental Micronesia, reported a 2.3% increase.

Coopesa RL signed a contract with Ecuador's Tame to perform a C check on an Airbus A320. This is the fourth C check performed by Coopesa for Tame. Coopesa has US FAA and EASA approval for A320 family aircraft; it has performed 32 C checks in the last 18 months. Fokker Aircraft Services received US FAA approval covering airframe maintenance and overhaul for all Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737NG series “N” registered aircraft.

Kale will provide the carrier with ATPCO fare filing services, including the creation of logs, new fare inserts and updates to existing fares, add-ons, rules, categories, footnotes, routings, fare class segments, RBDs as defined by ATPCO standards and GDS. US Dept. of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that US airlines collected almost $5.7 billion from baggage fees and reservation change fees in 2010. According to BTS, the airlines received $3.4 billion from baggage fees and $2.3 billion from reservation change fees in 2010. “These are the only fees paid by passengers that BTS can identify separately. All other fees paid by passengers are included in larger categories with other types of revenue,” said BTS.

ICAO adopted a code of conduct to oversee the collection, sharing and use of aviation safety information. "Transparency and sharing of safety information are fundamental to a safe air transportation system. The new code of conduct will help ensure that the information is used in a fair and consistent manner, with the sole objective of improving safety," said ICAO Council President Roberto Kobeh González.
