Cathay Pacific Airways announced Wednesday it will begin codesharing with Alaska Airlines Oct. 7. Under the agreement, Cathay’s “CX” code will go on Alaska flights from Seattle and Portland to three of CX’s North American gateway cities—Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. Air Berlin will launch weekly Dusseldorf–Erbil service on Nov. 6. The carrier also will operate DUS–Sulaymaniyah service every two weeks.
Frontier Airlines launched 12-times-weekly Hartford–Milwaukee service using ERJ-145s. Alaska Airlines launched daily Seattle–St. Louis service with a 737.
Tianjin Airlines will launch its first international route with services to Tianjin–Hohhot–Ulan Bator on Oct. 19. The Hainan Airlines subsidiary was originally launched in June 2007 under the name of Grand China Express Airlines ( ATW Daily News, June 15, 2009).
According to media reports in Dubai today, the UAE is planning to re-nominate itself as a candidate for International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) council membership to continue its active role in the international civil aviation sector.
