Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Co. (GAMECO), the joint venture owned by China Southern Airlines (CZ), South China International Aircraft Engineering and Hutchison Aircraft Maintenance Investment, said it broke ground last month on a new $90 million hangar at Guangzhou Baiyun International. Bangalore International Airport (BPO) is starting an expansion program aimed at making it "the gateway to the south of India," according to managing director Sanjay Reddy. Construction slated to get underway this month in its main passenger terminal will double the facility's size to 70,000 sq. m. within 18 months, he said via email, noting that the terminal's capacity will reach 17 million passengers annually "with the flexibility to expand to more than 20 million."

Belfast International Airport (BFS) will benefit from the decision taken by UK chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne last month to lower the Air Passenger Duty (APD) for direct long-haul flights from Northern Ireland from Nov. 1.
