Hawaiian Airlines will increase 2X-daily Honolulu-Los Angeles service to 3X-daily June 7. Mokulele Airlines announced the full restoration of scheduled flight operations as of Dec.12. It had voluntarily suspended operations temporarily to complete an internal records audit.
All Nippon Airways (ANA), launch customer for the Boeing 787, announced that Seattle, Wash., and San Jose, Calif., will be the aircraft’s first US destinations from fiscal year 2012.
Thai Airways International (TG) will deploy its first Airbus A380 on regional routes, most likely Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK)-Hong Kong (HKG). Speaking to ATW during a visit to Toulouse to view the carrier’s first A380 on the final assembly line, TG executives said the carrier will operate between BKK and Frankfurt (FRA) only “after we receive the second aircraft delivery around November 2012. Upon receiving additional aircraft, Thai will operate to London [Heathrow (LHR)] and then Paris [Charles de Gaulle].”

Flydubai announced today that it has added two additional Iraqi destinations to its network with flights to Baghdad and Najaf due to start in the New Year. The new routes bring flydubai's network to 48 destinations across 27 countries in the GCC, Middle East, Africa, Indian Sub-Continent, Asia and the fringes of Europe.
United Airlines will launch daily Washington Dulles-Dubai-Doha-Dubai-Dulles Boeing 777 service May 1. Spirit Airlines will launch Phoenix Mesa service to Las Vegas (2X-daily, Feb. 9), Dallas Fort Worth (daily, March 22) and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (daily, March 22).
Air New Zealand (NZ) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) will establish a closer partnership from March 25 providing passengers on both airlines with improved access to destinations in Japan and New Zealand. The partnership, subject to regulatory approval, will give NZ passengers access beyond the gateways of Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai through ANA’s network of 700 flights a day to 48 domestic destinations.
US carriers reported seven tarmac delays longer than 3 hr., compared to no tarmac delays in October 2010 ( ATW Daily News, Dec. 8, 2010), according to the US Dept. of Transportation’s (DOT) Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). BTS reported there were 11 international flights of tarmac delays of more than 4 hr. in October.
