Air Lease Corporation CEO John Plueger tells Aviation Week that "predictions point to six out of 10 new aircraft deliveries in 2024 being leased in some way."
UNITED AIRLINES says it expects to take delivery of 88 (seven 787s, 37 737-8s, 19 737-9s and 25 A321neos) of 191 aircraft planned for 2024, excluding one 787, six 737-8s, 15 737-9s, 80 737-10s and one A321. It is projecting 64 in 2025.
AMERICAN AIRLINES ordered 85 A321neos, 85 737-10s (also converted 30 -8s to -10s) and 90 E175s, and took options and purchase rights for 75 737-10s, 75 A321neos and 43 E175s. It now has 440 aircraft on order: 149 A320 Family, 159 737 MAXs, 30 787s and 102 E175s. It is also refurbishing interiors of its A319s/A320s, increasing number of first class seats.
SKYWEST announced new flying agreement with United Airlines to add 20 partner-financed E175s to fleet in 2024, joining 19 SkyWest-owned E175s; it plans by end of 2026 to be operating 278 E175s for United, Delta and Alaska.
