The E-Jet Effect: How One Aircraft Family Reshaped Aviation
Last week, we celebrated a remarkable milestone at Embraer: the delivery of our 1900th E-Jet. This isn't just a production number; it is a moment to reflect on two decades of innovation, partnership, and the enduring impact of a family of aircraft that reshaped the aviation landscape.
The scale of this achievement is best understood through its daily pulse: every minute, three of our E-Jets take off somewhere in the world, and every second, four new passengers step on board. It’s a constant, living testament to the trust our airline partners place in us.
A Vision for Connection
When the first E-Jet entered service, it bridged a critical gap between regional and mainline flying. Airlines were searching for an aircraft family that could offer mainline comfort and performance with unmatched economics. Our answer was the E-Jet family, a clean-sheet design engineered for the 70- to 150-seat segment.
This philosophy, which we call "right-sizing," has empowered our partners to build more resilient and profitable networks. They can open new markets, add frequencies to key destinations, and connect communities in ways that were previously not economically viable. The E-Jet became, and remains, a catalyst for growth and connectivity.
A Global Legacy Written in Numbers
The impact of the E-Jet family is truly global. Today, our E-Jets fly for over 90 airlines in more than 60 countries.
Together, this fleet has flown for 45 million hours and carried 2.5 billion passengers – equivalent to nearly a third of the world's population. This legacy is measured not just in 35 million departures, but in the human stories behind them: the family reunions, the critical business deals, and the new adventures made possible. Indeed, the E-Jets are the third most successful aircraft family in the single-aisle category in terms of firm orders.
Passenger-Centric by Design
From day one, we knew that a superior passenger experience would be our signature. The E-Jet’s 2x2 seating configuration, with no middle seat, became an instant passenger favorite. It raised expectations for what a flight in this aircraft category should feel like.
This passenger-centric philosophy has been elevated to new heights with our new generation E2 – the most efficient small narrowbody aircraft. The delivery of this 1900th E-Jet, an E190-E2 for our esteemed partner Virgin Australia, marks the continuation of this legacy.
A Milestone, Not a Destination
This 1900th delivery is a moment of immense pride, made possible only by the dedication of the entire Embraer team and the enduring trust of our airline partners around the world. We extend our deepest gratitude to every customer, supplier, and employee who has been part of this journey.
While we celebrate this historic achievement, we are more focused than ever on the future. The E-Jet effect will continue to shape aviation, connecting people and communities with ever-greater efficiency and sustainability. We are incredibly proud to be leading the way.
