MRO Asia-Pacific 2024: What To Expect On Day One

The MRO industry provides opportunities to travel internationally. We have already attended MRO BEER in Vilnius, Lithuania and MRO Americas in Chicago this year. Our next stop is MRO Asia-Pacific in Singapore on Sept. 24-26.

We have scheduled 22 sessions over the two days. On the first day, Lee Ann Shay, Aviation Week Network's executive editor of business aviation and MRO, will lead a session where she will talk to key regional figures about the major issues affecting the region. She will be in conversation with Atty. Roberto C.O. Lim, undersecretary for aviation and airports at the Philippines' Department of Transportation; Ng Sze Han, executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility for the Selangor State Government; and Tse Yong Lim, senior vice president and head of mobility and industrial solutions for the Singapore Economic Development Board about how businesses in the region are investing to support the growth, given the projected strong MRO demand in Asia-Pacific over the next decade. They will also discuss the latest infrastructure developments and MRO facilities in the region.

Shay will inquire about how the Asia-Pacific region is attracting investment and talent, how OEM partnerships collaborate effectively and what strategies MRO businesses use to adapt to growing MRO demand.

The focus will then shift to MRO opportunities in China. China represents a large and growing proportion of the global MRO market, so the discussion will cover what MRO businesses need to be aware of when entering the Chinese market. Jonas Murby, principal at AeroDynamic Advisory, will moderate a panel of four speakers including Janice Ho, StandardAero's sales director for Asia-Pacific airlines and fleets, and Marc Szepan, general manager at Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Company Ltd.

Other sessions will explore solutions to the capacity problem with participants from SIA Engineering Co., MTU Maintenance Singapore Pte Ltd. and DHL Express (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

In the afternoon, there will be a discussion on leasing, including the growing trend of lease extensions, and more information about the leasing of widebody and narrowbody aircraft.

There will also be networking opportunities and discussions on cost-effective maintenance, fleet management strategies and limited parts availability.
