SINGAPORE—SIA Engineering Co. (SIAEC) and Thales Solutions Asia are evaluating a collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.

Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU), the two companies will explore the possibility of working together in areas such as component MRO—in cooperation with Thales’ facilities—and on repair services, under SIAEC’s Inventory Technical Management programs and its network of component shops.

The two companies will establish a framework for the potential cooperation, which SIAEC noted complements an existing plan to grow its component repair and overhaul services network.

“The potential collaboration with Thales could expand SIAEC’s component repair capabilities, network and service offerings to our airline customers for Thales’ components,” said Bernd Riggers, SIAEC’s senior vice president of component services.

Thales called the action a first step in seeing how the two companies can leverage complementary capabilities and networks to benefit airlines.

“As an established MRO supplier for the industry, Thales is looking forward to partnering with SIAEC in this new chapter as we support companies in the aerospace sector for their components repair needs,” said Thomas Got, vice president of Aviation Global Services and Avionics Services Worldwide. “With the aviation sector in full recovery, having fleets in top shape remain a priority for all airlines.”
