Through its aviation design, engineering and MRO expertise, ST Engineering's solutions meet customers’ needs and redefine the way we work.

As a world-class original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider, ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business has integrated and proven solutions that serve an aircraft’s needs across its life cycle. Further to possessing wide breadth in its capabilities, ST Engineering also has immense depth, from design and engineering expertise to creative bundled MRO service offerings that deliver innovative solutions for various industry applications.

Supporting firefighting efforts with the world’s first Boeing P2T aircraft

Leveraging its years of experience in aircraft modification and freighter conversions, ST Engineering is designing and converting the world’s first Boeing 757P2T (Passenger-to-Tanker) aerial firefighting platform in partnership with Galactic Holdings. This program marries ST Engineering’s strengths in aircraft structural modification and aviation certification expertise with Galactic Holdings’ knowhow in aerial firefighting operational considerations & certifications.

The 757P2T will feature a large carrying capacity and custom-designed retardant dispensing system to combat wildfires with greater resource efficiency compared to existing firefighting airtankers. Prototyping is planned for mid-2024, while testing and subsequent entry into service is projected for late 2025 – early 2026. In parallel with the 757P2T conversion program, ST Engineering and Galactic Holdings will be undertaking conceptual study into the next P2T platform beginning mid-2024.

Comprehensive suite of MRO solutions under one roof

With nearly 50 years of MRO experience and a network of facilities across Asia, Europe and the U.S., ST Engineering delivers on customer experience and service quality, leaving airline operators with the peace of mind to focus on their operations. Part of this strong value proposition is its one-stop approach to aircraft maintenance. As an integrated lifecycle fleet solution provider, ST Engineering offers “bundled services” that include airframe, engine and component MRO solutions tailored to meet each operator’s unique needs.

Bundling services enables its customers to enjoy consistent service, streamlined communication and contracting arrangements through a single solution provider. By tapping on the knowhow of its global network, ST Engineering closely evaluates the gaps between various needs and services to develop and promote bundled services and cross-selling opportunities, which are not limited to MRO – for instance, freighter operators can lease converted Airbus A320P2F and A321P2F aircraft, and opt for MRO services, all through ST Engineering.

As part of its continuous efforts in supporting airlines’ evolving needs, ST Engineering joined CFM International’s LEAP maintenance network in early 2023. As a CFMI CBSA shop, ST Engineering can provide the full range of engine MRO solutions for operators transitioning to new-generation aircraft powered by the LEAP engines, in addition to its existing suite of solutions for CFM56 engines.

Redefining how we travel and work with WIG craft and unmanned solutions

To address industry demands and customer needs, ST Engineering is developing innovative solutions that cater to various applications, from connecting coastal communities to enabling multi-functional drone operations in urban and harsh environments.

Its AirFish family of Wing-in-Ground (WIG) craft redefines maritime transport by enabling safe, sustainable and swift coastal travel & logistics. Utilizing aerodynamic forces and air pressure generated between itself and a water surface, AirFish WIG craft are able to fly at three times the speed of existing marine craft. This brings about significant reduction in time savings and convenience for maritime public transport, luxury travel, delivery of parapublic services as well as potential military applications. The first AirFish platform, an eight-seater, is slated for certification and entry into market by 2025.

Apart from redefining maritime transport, ST Engineering is also helping to revolutionize delivery services and site inspections with its unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) solution, DroNet. DroNet is a drone-agnostic operating platform capable of integrating autonomous, multi-function UAS. The first solution approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore for beyond visual line-of-sight operations, DroNet is able to support applications in security, surveillance, inspection and middle-to-last mile deliveries.

Versatile new DrN-series drones by ST Engineering feature longer endurance payloads that can be controlled by a single platform for one-to-many flight operations, with features such as obstacle detection & avoidance, precision landing and real-time data analytics. The DrN-35LS (Winch Delivery System) is suited for tight space operations within an urban environment and is capable of shore-to-ship delivery, while the DrN-40 VTOL fixed wing UAS excels in longer range missions. Integration of advanced AI technology into ST Engineering’s UAS solutions also allows for safer, more efficient defect inspection in hard-to-access power infrastructure.

These capabilities and solutions will be showcased as part of ST Engineering’s Aviation cluster at the Singapore Airshow from 20 – 25 February 2024: https://www.stengg.com/en/singapore-airshow-2024/aviation/
