Textron Aviation is adding Garmin autothrottles to its Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 light business jet as standard equipment on new aircraft beginning in mid-2025, the company announced.

The Garmin autothrottles, integrated with the Garmin G3000 avionics suite, will optimize engine power, simplify flight management and increase operating efficiencies, the company says. With the technology, pilots experience smoother and more predictable flight profiles.

“With its intelligent automation and streamlined operation, the integration of autothrottles in the aircraft provides pilots added precision and efficiency,” says Lannie O’Bannion, Textron Aviation senior vice president of sales and flight operation.

The autothrottles streamline operations by managing aircraft speed, engine performance and power to allow the aircraft to climb, descend or maintain altitude. It automatically manages engine thrust and optimizes airspeed and fuel efficiency.

Textron Aviation, based in Wichita, introduced the Citation M2 Gen2 in 2021, an upgrade of the Citation M2, with new interior styling, accent lighting, wireless charging, more legroom and other amenities.
