An AW109 Trekker.
GENEVA—Sloane Helicopters, a distributor for Leonardo rotorcraft in Ireland and the UK, has ordered three Leonardo AW109 Trekker light twins, adding to the five AW109 GrandNews it ordered in March, the two companies announced here at EBACE May 20.
Deliveries of the three VIP-configured Trekkers—the AW109 skid version—are planned to take place by 2027. Over the last three years, Sloane has delivered 20 AW109s, John Parnell, sales manager, said.
They were almost evenly split between the Trekker and the wheels-equipped GrandNew. VIP passengers enjoy the layout with the partition wall that gives them privacy, relative to the flight crew, Jordan Smith, SaxonAir’s head of rotary ground operations, said.
Leonardo and Sloane Helicopters also renewed their distributorship agreement for another three years, after 30 years of collaboration. Sloane is a distributor for the AW109 and the AW169 intermediate twin, as well as the in-development AW09 single.
In addition, Sloane is a type rating training center for Leonardo helicopters and an authorized service center for the GrandNew and the AW169.
