TAP Signs Up For Lufthansa Technik Digital Support

TAP Air Portugal has entered into a five-year contract with Lufthansa Technik for its Aviatar digital support offering for its entire fleet of Airbus aircraft.

In a move aimed at digitalizing its aircraft fleet and generated cost savings, the Portuguese flaf carrier will draw on Aviatar tools including condition monitoring, event analytics and fleet map. In addition, the airline becomes a development partner for future solutions on the digital platform. 

"TAP Air Portugal follows a stringent selection process for service providers. Following an experimental period, AVIATAR has met and confirmed our expectations concerning functionality, teamwork and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen and digitalize our technical fleet support," says Mário Lobato de Faria, chief technical officer of TAP Air Portugal. 

“Therefore, we are looking forward to benefitting from increased aircraft availability, paving the way for predictive maintenance and further cost savings as well as a close, future-oriented relationship with our partner Lufthansa Technik.”  

In the run up to signing the agreement, TAP’s in-house project team tested Aviatar’s aircraft health monitoring solutions in parallel and in place of their current solution, including a detailed quality assessment. 

TAP’s fleet is comprised of 82 Airbus aircraft including A320 family variants and A330 aircraft.

Lufthansa Technik launched in Aviatar in 2017 as a platform of digital products and services ranging from predictive maintenance to fulfilment and automated solutions for airlines, MRO providers, OEMs and lessors.
