FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-14-11 for certain GE CF6-80As and CF6-80C2s, requiring visual inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection of the high pressure turbine thermal shield and, if cracking is detected, removal from service of the thermal shield, rotor stage 1 disk and rotor stage 2 disk, effective Aug. 27, 2021.

FAA has issued safety alert for operators 21003 on inspection of lavatory fire extinguishing bottles on aircraft parked or stored for a prolonged period of time in a high-temperature environment.

FAA has issued airworthiness directive 2021-14-13 for all Pratt & Whitney PW2037s, PW2037Ms, PW2040s and F117-PW-100s, requiring fluorescent penetrant inspections and visual inspections of the high-pressure turbine 2nd-stage air seal assembly and, depending on results, replacement of the 2nd-stage air seal assembly with a part eligible for installation, and this replacement, depending on engine model, must be made at either the next engine shop visit or the next piece-part opportunity, effective Sept. 1, 2021.
