Launch Customer Named For Modified Dash 8-400
Nordic Aviation Capital will be the launch customer for the classic overhead bin extension solution for Dash 8-400s, with De Havilland Canada the exclusive supplier of all classic bin extension modifications for Nordic's fleet. The cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly solution provides additional stowage volume in the Dash 8 aircraft's cabin.
Diehl Aviation To Open Dubai Office In 2020
Diehl Aviation will open a customer and sales office in Dubai this year. With Diehl Aviation Middle East, the cabin and systems specialist is further expanding its proximity to customers and range.
Magnetic MRO And OSM Aviation Launch Appreticeship Program
Magnetic MRO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with OSM Aviation to launch a joint apprenticeship program, which will take place at the MRO’s Tallinn, Estonia facility starting this September. The 24-month practical studies program is aimed at providing more aircraft maintenance training opportunities for students in Scandinavia.
Aero Precision Acquires Kellstrom Defense
Aero Precision has acquired aftermarket sustainment solutions provider Kellstrom Defense. Aero Precision says the acquisition will give it access to more legacy aircraft, additional OEM partnerships and what it calls one of the largest privately owned military aftermarket distribution businesses in the industry.
StandardAero Starts Business Aviation Engine Exchange Program
StandardAero has launched a business aviation engine exchange program for operators of legacy aircraft powered by TFE731, CFE738 and PW305 engines as well as Honeywell 36-100/150 series APUs. The program provides three engine exchange options: sell engine, lease engine and exchange or purchase engine.
LOTAMS Completes Air Europa C Check
On January 8, 2020, the C check of a 737-800NG of Air Europe was completed at LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services. Works on the aircraft was the third heavy check that LOTAMS performed for the Spanish carrier. Additionally, LOTAMS modified the ADS-B navigation system to improve flight safety in high-traffic airspace. The check and modification lasted 32 days and took almost 8,000 man-hours.
Lufthansa Technik Turns To 5G
Lufthansa Technik is one of the first companies in Germany to use its own private wireless networks based on the latest standard 5G. In February, the first 5G private wireless networks have been put into operation for two innovation projects in the field of VIP completion and engine overhaul at LHT’s Hamburg base, with different technology and network providers, Vodafone and Nokia.
Magnet MRO Enters Skills Partnership
Magnetic MRO and OSM Aviation have signed a memorandum of understanding to engage in a strategic partnership by generating an apprenticeship program aimed at OSM recruits and employees. The first group of qualified technical apprentices from Norway and Sweden has been selected and will start their 24 months of practical studies program at the Magnetic MRO in Tallinn, Estonia, from early September 2020.
