Magnetic MRO Expands Engine Capabilities
Magnetic MRO has expanded its engine workshop with new tooling and capabilities for 40 new services, such as modular maintenance and repair of CFM56-5B and -7B engines, hot section modules replacement and partial and full replacement of HPT blades.
easyJet Maintains Aircraft, Temporarily Downsizes Maintenance
easyJet says it is maintaining its grounded Airbus fleet of 498 aircraft in a flight ready condition in accordance with the relevant maintenance instructions laid out by the airframe OEM. The airline has tapped into the government job retention scheme for more than 4,000 of its 9,000 UK staff and confirmed some maintenance and engineering professionals were included where appropriate.
Lufthansa Technik Obtains P2F Approvals
Lufthansa Technik (LHT) has achieved Engineering Order Specific Tailsign approvals from the German Federal Aviation Authority for four Lufthansa Airbus A330-300 aircraft to be modified for cargo transport during the novel coronavirus crisis. LHT is pursuing supplemental type certificates for all common aircraft types so global airlines can quickly convert their passenger aircraft into auxiliary freighters.
STS Aviation Services Completes FOMAX Mods for easyJet
STS Aviation Services has completed its long-running program to implement FOMAX connectivity solution modifications to easyJet’s fleet. STS says it has delivered 39 aircraft under the program from its Newquay, Cornwall MRO facility.
APOC Aviation Buys Airbus A319 for Teardown
APOC Aviation has acquired an Airbus A319-111 from SMBC Aviation Capital for teardown. The aircraft, previously operated by Iberia, is the fourth A320 family aircraft acquired by APOC Aviation this year.
New LCD Flight Display Retrofit for B757 and 767 Aircraft
Thomas Global Systems has received EASA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for its TFD-7000 Series plug-and-play LCD flight displays for Boeing 757 and 767 cathode ray tube-equipped aircraft. According to the company, this is the first EASA-approved retrofit of its kind for Boeing 757/200/300 and 767-200/300 aircraft.
Atitech Plans Gradual Return Of MRO Workflow
Italian MRO Atitech is planning to normalize operations following a four-week period of low volume activity. From this week, a gradual increase of staff is planned while the Naples-based maintenance provider expects to increase workshop activity from May 4 onwards.
Australian Extensions
Due to COVID-19, CASA has extended the due dates of certain aircraft airworthiness reviews. The exemption, published on April 9, also states, “We are also working on options for Part 66 licence holders (and those studying toward one) with respect to time limits associated with type and category training, CASA exams and welding and NDT authorities. More information on these matters will be provided as soon as possible.”
Kellstrom Acquires An A320 For Teardown
Kellstrom Aerospace has announced the acquisition of an Airbus A320 with Serviceable CFM56-5B4/P engines. The A320 airframe was recently acquired for disassembly in the UK. The engines will be remarketed through Kellstrom Aerospace Asset Management for sale or lease.
