The Region's Fleet Will Nearly Double in 10 Years' Time
This year, Aviation Week's Fleet & MRO Forecast data estimates there are 1,801 commercial aircraft flying in the Middle East. Over a 10-year period, a 8% year-on-year growth is predicted. By 2028, 3,594 aircraft are expected to be in-service.
Emirates Operates the Middle East's Largest Fleet
Emirates has the largest fleet in the Middle East, comprised of 1,357 aircraft as of February 2019. Its fleet consists of Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft.
MRO Growth Will Be Healthy
The region's MRO segment will grow slightly below the region's fleet expansion at 7.3% annually from this year through to 2028.
MRO Spend to Surpass $92 Billion
MRO spend is estimated to stand at $92.6 billion over the next 10 years, according to Aviation Week data.
Engine Work Will Drive MRO Growth
Of the $92.6 billion growth over the next decade, 36% of total spend will come in the form of engine maintenance. Aviation Week estimates this will be worth $32.9 billion over a 10-year period.
New 777s Will Grow In Presence
The Boeing 777-8 and -9, ordered by the likes of Qatar Airways (pictured), will increase their presence over the next decade. Aviation Week forecast data estimates 524 of the aircraft type will enter service in Middle Eastern fleets between now and 2028.
