1. New Product Development
Company: Dedienne Aerospace
Product: Dedienne Aerospace operates strategic hubs and service centers around the world to provide full life-cycle support for its ground support equipment (GSE). The company offers a range of specialized GSE to civil aviation and defense sectors, including tripod and axle jacks and servicing carts. Dedienne reports high demand for its engine-shipping stands, which are equipped with integrated GPS tracking and connected to its ToolLive digital tooling management platform. The company recently added two GSE products: a nitrogen filling cart with customizable configurations to fill aircraft accumulators and tires with varying pressure requirements and a compact wheel-changing trolley for transporting aircraft wheels, which integrates the tooling and nitrogen supply required for on-site wheel replacement. Dedienne is developing Combi stands to support General Electric GE9X and GE90 and Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 and 7000 engines, as well as a specialized tripod jack for the Atlantique II maritime patrol aircraft.

2. Boosting Output
Company: Newbow Aerospace

Product: Newbow Aerospace designs and manufactures a range of GSE, including nitrogen and oxygen carts, wheel and brake change trailers, pneumatic hoses, as well as wheel-handling and ground-storage products. The company supplies products to more than 300 customers worldwide and holds approved-supplier status with OEMs such as Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Last year, Newbow released a new wheel and brake change trailer that it says is the first of its kind to incorporate a solar-paneled roof, which eliminates the requirement for a tow vehicle to provide power. Aer Lingus was the launch customer, and other airlines have placed orders with Newbow. The company says it is seeing growing demand for its products in the Middle East and Australia, and it is boosting output in anticipation of further growth this year. The company recently received an order from Saudia Technic to manufacture 30 nitrogen service carts and 10 oxygen service carts, which it says is its single biggest customer order to date.

3. Robotic Aircraft Cleaning
Company: Nordic Dino

Product: Based in Vallentuna, Sweden, and part of the Avia Solutions Group, Nordic Dino is a manufacturer of exterior aircraft-cleaning robots. Nordic Dino says the robots reduce risks associated with manual washing, such as exposure to hazardous chemicals, physical strain and working at dangerous heights. The robots can navigate and clean elevated areas of aircraft autonomously or via remote operation, reaching a washing height of 11 m (36 ft.) for the Nordic Dino WB, designed for widebodies, and 11.3 m for the Nordic Dino XWB, designed for extra-large widebodies. Both robots come with electric and diesel options. The company says the XWB can perform up to 450 washes annually, reducing 91 hr. per wash on an Airbus A380. Nordic Dino says customer-reported data shows its robotic washing systems save around 4,000 liters (1,050 gal.) of water per wash.

4. Expanding Portfolio
Company:

Product: RH Aero Systems was formed last year through the merger of Rhinestahl and Hydro Systems. The company operates headquarters in both the U.S. and Germany, supporting customers through 26 global service centers that offer product calibration, recertification and repairs. RH Aero Systems has a catalog of more than 3,000 GSE products, including landing gear equipment, tripod and axle jacks, engine change and handling systems, and engine transport and storage stands. The company’s newest products include its enhanced Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engine handling kit and its LGX MultiSystem landing gear changer, which it says offers safer, crane-free main landing gear removal for widebodies. RH Aero Systems is working to establish full production capacity for both products at its facility in Mason, Ohio, to supply the U.S. market with shorter lead times and reduced logistics costs. The company also recently announced a new facility at Dubai South and a new service center in Beijing.

5. Durability Focus
Company: Avro GSE

Product: Avro GSE provides a portfolio of tractors, loaders, carts and dollies that are used at more than 75 North American airports. The company’s latest GSE product is the Avro Cart, a baggage transport cart that it says was designed for durability and efficiency. The Avro Cart has a galvanneal finish to resist rust and corrosion and a torsion axle system to provide stability and shock absorption to reduce potential damage to luggage or cargo. The cart can hold up to 8,000 lb. of baggage and has an optional middle shelf for organization. Avro GSE says its “AAA” Maintenance Spare Program provides access to additional spare standby equipment, enhanced support technician availability and expedited parts delivery at certain locations.
