The division provides durable, large-opening hangar door products engineered for aviation applications, such as Megadoor—a lightweight, vertical-lift fabric door that Assa Abloy says offers fast operating speeds, improved energy efficiency and performance in extreme climates with virtually no size limitations. 2. Functional Fabric Doors
Company: Champion Door
Product: Champion Door is a Finland-based specialist in motor-operated, vertical-lifting fabric fold-up doors. It supplies single-leaf and multileaf hangar door systems to aviation and MRO customers for applications across various aircraft platforms, sizes and segments. The company says its elevating support-post systems enable it to create wide, unobstructed openings without floor tracks or heavy supporting structures. Champion Door says customer interest is high in its energy-efficient, intelligent door systems that maintain stable working conditions and control energy consumption in hot and cold environments. The company recently supplied the hangar door systems for Air New Zealand’s Hangar 4 maintenance facility in Auckland, and it is also investing $35-50 million in a new manufacturing facility in Maryland to strengthen its North America presence. Champion Door has introduced a digital door configurator aimed at making the early stages of hangar door projects faster and more accurate.

3. Maximizing Hangar Space
Company: Fyve By
Product: Technology startup Fyve By offers smart hangar technology to help maintenance providers reduce risks to aircraft and equipment while maximizing hangar space. The company’s SkyView product combines a sensor suite with edge computing to track the positioning of aircraft, cargo, tools and staff in hangar space in real time. Fyve By says this enables customers to prevent collisions and find the most efficient aircraft stacking configurations for their hangars. Multiple customers have deployed the technology, including the Wilson Air Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Fyve By offers a free tool called Instant Stack that lets operators build a 3D version of their hangar—including elements such as offices, toolboxes, vehicles and no-walk zones—to test stacking configurations against the layout before moving aircraft. Its paid SkyView product provides real-time data to confirm these stacking plans hold up once aircraft are moving and helps operators plan for customer schedules.

4. Mobile Hangar Monitoring
Company: Gandhi Automations
Product: Headquartered in Mumbai, Gandhi Automations is a provider of customized aircraft hangar doors for both new hangar developments and retrofit projects. Gandhi Automations says it is the only company that offers both vertical-lifting and sliding aircraft hangar doors. While the company has completed projects and installations in more than 72 countries, it has a particularly strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region, with customers including Air India, GMF AeroAsia, MAB Engineering Services, SIA Engineering Co. and Vietnam Airlines Engineering Co. The company recently developed its Gandhi Cloud Management System digital platform, which lets users monitor and operate hangar doors remotely through a mobile application. It says the system offers predictive maintenance capabilities and provides real-time diagnostics and alerts to minimize unplanned downtime, improve equipment reliability and optimize maintenance schedules.
