Relocating In Dallas
Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO Group) relocated its Dallas operations to a new facility in January 2025. The 290,000 ft.2 facility operates under its HAECO Global Engine Support business. At the time of the opening, the MRO provider said that the new facility would allow it to increase production capacity and "address the escalating demand for advanced aircraft engine repair services."

Shop Capacity and Capabilities
The newly built facility, which HAECO has on lease, has more than 36 maintenance bays and supports multiple narrowbody and widebody engine platforms. It provides repair work for aircraft on the ground in addition to larger repairs that may involve splitting engines into large components and repairing internal components that, once removed, are tested and reinstalled onto an aircraft.

Global Engine Support Network
In total, HAECO invested around $17.5 million in the new Dallas facility. The site operates alongside other on-wing or near-wing engine support facilities located in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and London, near Heathrow Airport.

Establishing HAECO In Dallas
The Hong Kong headquartered MRO provider has had a presence in Dallas since March 2020, when it acquired maintenance company Jet Engine Solutions, which specialized in quick-turn repairs and lease return services for commercial engines.

Leap-1A Reverse Bleed System Installations
The shop also carries out reverse bleed system (RBS) installations on CFM International Leap-1A engines. HAECO Global Engine Support undertook the RBS retrofit, which occurs both on wing and near wing, after signing a long-term agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines last September. Safran is a partner in the Leap program along with GE Aerospace. The retrofitted system will blow air into the engine's core flowpath after shutdown. Doing this negates the coking of unburned fuel in the engine’s fuel nozzles. The Leap-1A RBS was certified by the FAA and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in 2023.

Workforce Strategy
The city of Dallas agreed to provide a $500,000 incentive for HAECO Global Engine Support to relocate, with a stipulation that the maintenance company hires at least 35% local residents. HAECO relocated approximately 76 existing full-time staff from its former shop in nearby Carrollton, Texas, to the new facility. In January, it also outlined plans to create an additional 94 jobs, for a total minimum job count of 170 roles.

Technology Improvements
HAECO has targeted efficiency improvements across its engine network and invested in manufacturing and engineering technologies at the Dallas facility to help achieve this. The site also runs on a Swiss-AS AMOS software operating system. The company rolled out the software package, comprised of AMOS Cloud and AMOS Component Repair Overhaul and Manufacturing Modules, across all of its Global Engine Support locations in February. HAECO said the move consolidated three regional systems into a single unified system.
