In 2022, Aviation Week forecast data estimates approximately 258 A220 aircraft are in-service. AirBaltic (pictured) was the launch customer for the aircraft in 2016.

North America Will See The Largest Fleet Growth

The North America region is expected to see the highest volume of A220 aircraft enter service. 113 units are anticipated to enter the regional fleet in 2022.

MRO Demand This Year

Given the relatively young life of the program, MRO demand will be modest this year. $174.3 million is expected to be generated in the A220 commercial aftermarket.

MRO Events

The A220 has maintenance intervals of 850 hours for A checks and 8,500 hours for C checks. Aviation Week forecasts 61 MRO events taking place this year.

Line Maintenance To Drive Aftermarket In 2022

Line maintenance will account for the largest MRO share of the A220 market this year at 56%.

PW1500G Engine MRO Growth

An uptick in shop visit activity for the A220's PW1500G engine is some way off, according to Aviation Week data. 2024 is when Aviation Week predicts the first PW1500G shop visit will take place, before increasing slowly up to 2028. The following year will be when the surge in PW1500G shop visits occurs, standing at an estimated 218 in 2029.
