AerFin is moving its UK headquarters to a new facility that will significantly expand its MRO and storage capacity.
The end-of-life specialist has signed a 10-year lease agreement for a new facility at St. Modwen Park, Newport in the UK, near Cardiff and Bristol. The 115,000 ft.2 facility features custom-built space for what AerFin says are enhanced aftermarket services activities, including engine disassembly and MRO, warehousing and logistics. The building also has a solar rooftop that the facility’s developer, St. Modwen Logistics, says could save AerFin up to £59,000 (approximately $75,000) annually.
According to AerFin, the facility will double its engine MRO capacity to around 200 quick-turn shop visits per year and expand its UK storage capacity by a third.
“This move will significantly enhance our operational capacity and position us well for continued expansion,” says AerFin CEO Simon Goodson. “We are collaborating with our selected contractors to ensure the space is fully functional by year-end to allow us to take advantage of the new facility’s unparalleled, advanced features.”
AerFin was previously headquartered in Caerphilly, UK, approximately 16 mi. west of St. Modwen. The company also has a components and AOG facility at London Gatwick Airport. Aviation Week Network has asked AerFin for more details about whether it intends to keep the Caerphilly facility and hire more staff to ramp up operations at the new headquarters.
AerFin also has been growing its footprint abroad. In April, the company opened a new Miami facility for airframe and engine parts. AerFin expects to double staff at the Miami facility by the end of this year. In January, AerFin opened a new office in Dublin to grow collaboration with Ireland’s aviation industry.
