In an almost unpublicized test on Sept. 23, 2014, a Boeing B-52H bomber demonstrated a variation on a centuries-old tool of naval warfare. Flying north of Guam, the bomber released an experimental combination of the in-service Quickstrike sea-bottom mine with a BSU-104 Joint Direct Attack Munition-Extended Range (JDAM-ER) wing and tailkit, designated GBU-62B(V1)/B Quickstrike-ER.
