SINGAPORE—ST Engineering has unveiled a family of small soldier-class drones for use in urban combat.
The three vehicles include the Artos system, capable of carrying a 500-g (1.1-lb.) payload, the Artex system, which can carry up to 200 g, and the Ares, which can carry 20 g, the company said at the Singapore Airshow. The vehicles are recoverable, Chua Jin Kiat, a ST Engineering executive, told reporters.
The hand-launched urban drones range in weight from the 335-g Ares to the 1.8-kg Artos.
The Artos, which can carry a warhead, should be ready to get into production this year, a company official said. It can be equipped with a warhead.
ST Engineering unveiled the products along with other uncrewed air system efforts, including the EagleStrike loitering munition. ST Engineering is also an ammunition maker, so could furnish the warheads for the armed systems.
The company also unveiled plans for a cargo delivery drone, the DrN-600, principally aimed at the commercial market but with the potential for military spinoffs.
