From The Archives: U.S. Air Force/Fairchild A-10 Prototypes In Test

50 years ago in Aviation Week
On the cover of Aviation Week’s Jan. 13, 1975, issue, two U.S. Air Force/Fairchild A-10 prototypes fly in formation over the Tehachapi Mountains about 20 mi. west of Edwards AFB, California, where the venerable close-support aircraft underwent flight testing. One of the two prototypes was later painted in dull gray low-reflectivity paint, one of several under Air Force consideration at the time. USAF photo by Lt. Col. Richard Clark.
