From The Archives: Kaman UH-2C SeaSprite Twin-Engine Helicopter

Kaman uh2c

The Kaman UH-2C SeaSprite Twin-Engine version of the Navy's SeaSprite utility and rescue helicopter on the cover of the July 4, 1966 issue, was undergoing a Navy evaluation test program at Patuxent, Md.

The helicopter shown on the cover image of the July 4, 1966 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology was the second of two retrofitted with two General Electric T58-GE-8B turboshaft engines, replacing the original single T58 installation (AW&ST Feb. 8, 1965, page 74).

The modification to the UH-2C was designed to give the helicopter twin-engine reliability and to increase the aircraft's hot-day and high-altitude performance.
