From The Archives: British To Improve Bomber Range, Mobility And Accuracy On Target
In 1955, new technical developments aimed at providing longer range, greater mobility and improved bombing accuracy for Britain's new subsonic strategic striking force of V bombers was revealed during a Parlimentary debate on the military budget.
Among the new improvements planned for the Vickers Valiant, Avro Vulcan, and the Handley Page Victor were aerial refueling kits, rocket-assisted takeoff, new navigation and bombing systems, and new anti-submarine warfare.
