Terma provides the ALQ-213 EW controller for Royal Netherlands Air Force NH90s.
Danish defense technology provider Terma says it has signed an agreement with Airbus targeting potential helicopter-related maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) work with an eye on future business opportunities in the country.
A cornerstone of the agreement is the focus on localized MRO capabilities to “guarantee maximum operational readiness for the Danish Armed Forces,” Terma said in a statement. The MRO work would likely be carried out at least in part through a joint venture Terma has set up with Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services.
The agreement with Airbus’ helicopter unit could also address integration of Terma’s electronic warfare systems, advanced manufacturing, as well as research and technology projects, the company said.
Denmark, like many of its neighbors, has been ramping up defense spending to modernize its armed forces and has also emphasized assuring greater operational sovereignty. The Airbus agreement with Terma is aimed at boosting the helicopter-maker’s position in upcoming tenders.
