SINGAPORE—The Republic of Singapore Air Force’s (RSAF) newly acquired Elbit Systems Hermes 900 uncrewed aerial system is making its public debut at this year's Singapore Airshow, just months after its acquisition was announced in November.
At the static display there is a single Hermes 900, which features the platform's distinctive beyond-line-of-sight antennae.
Although no squadron marking is affixed, it is possible that it will inducted into 116 Squadron, where it could replace the smaller Hermes 450 introduced in 2007.
The RSAF has embraced a multi-tiered UAS concept, with a mix of medium-altitude long-endurance platforms like the Heron 1 and Hermes 900 complementing the lower-flying Orbiter 4 and other commercially-off-the-shelf systems to cater for various operational requirements such as urban warfare and possibly anti-armor roles.
