F-35
Denmark says its Lockheed Martin F-35 fighters will form part of the country’s air defense mission starting in April.
Acting Chief of Defense Michael Hyldgaard on March 17 said the F-35 will start to gradually take over the role of the F-16.
Hyldgaard called it a long and complicated process that has led to this milestone. Denmark in 2016 selected the F-35, received the first of the aircraft in the U.S. in 2021, and has had them operating in Denmark since 2023.
Denmark has agreed to buy 27 F-35As to replace its F-16s, some of which the country has already furnished to Ukraine while selling others to Argentina.
