Airbus is focusing on a high-gross-weight version of the A321neo as it tries to address the market of thin and relatively short long-haul routes left open as the Boeing 757 slowly is  being retired.  The manufacturer has started to discuss the concept with airlines, according to Frank Vermeire, head of A320-family marketing.
