Importance Of Military Modernisation Recognised By India | 印度认可的军事现代化的重要性

The procurement of defense equipment for the Indian armed forces has suffered from delays and lack of investment over recent years, a situation which will not be helped by budgetary limitations.

Nevertheless there are indicators within the revised 2020 budget and 2021 budget that the importance of modernization is being recognized in response to an increasingly complex security environment.

There are no shortage of procurement priorities for India’s under pressure defence budget, including committed projects like the Russian-built S-400 missile defense system and Dassault Rafale fighters. The country also has plans in place to acquire new submarines, combat aircraft for the navy and air force, minesweepers, naval and army helicopters and an aircraft carrier. Very few of these projects are likely to be placed under contract in the short term.
