How Business Aviation Is Gaining Advantage On Airlines

People wanting and needing to travel but not being able to rely on commercial scheduled airlines for various reasons has allowed turboprop and business jet utilization to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

Flight hours for turboprops returned to pre-COVID levels in March and have continued to increase throughout the second quarter of 2021. They are now well ahead of pre-pandemic levels.

Utilization rates for small and medium business jets are also significantly higher than pre-COVID levels, as of the end of June 2021. Even large business jets, which took the longest to recover, have recently surpassed 2019 levels.

That said, nearly all of the recent aggregated flight hours are being accumulated in North America and Europe. Other regions have yet to recover.
