From The Archives: Flying The Legacy 500 - Embraer's Bid To Redefine Midsize

This issue, dated May 19, 2014, is one of two covers. This particular cover shows the Embraer Legacy 500 business jet. Our own Fred George reported that Embraer's Legacy 500 is a "niche-busting" design and he took the controls in the cockpit taking the aircraft out for a spin on a warm and humid summer day in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.

He said the aircraft competes with the Bombardier Challenger 300/350 and the Gulfstream G280 and he describes the flight deck, the cabin, and how the aircraft flew. Read on to find out more about George's experience.
