EBACE:Lear 40 and Global 5000 have range improvements
Bombardier announced today an increased range option for Learjet 40 XR business jets. The 268nm (496 km) range extension is now available as an option for all new orders and for aircraft scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of this year.
The significant range extension will be obtained through a 687 lb increase to the fuel tank capacity. “Bombardier is committed to developing new product lines and enhancing current product platforms, even young models like the Learjet 40 XR,” said David Coleal,
vice-president and general manager of the Learjet products.
The additional range when flying at its long range cruise speed of Mach 0.75 (800 km/h), the Learjet 40 XR aircraft now offers a non-stop range of 1,991nm (3,687 km) – over 15 percent more distance covered, increasing travel flexibility to include key city pairs such as London-Cairo and Dubai-Istanbul.
This follows the earlier announcement that the Global 5000 aircraft extended range option is available at Bombardier service centres.
The service bulletin regarding the 400-nautical mile (NM) (741 km) increase to the non-stop intercontinental range of the Global 5000 business jet was issued on April 21.
The significant range extension will be obtained by increasing the Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) to 92,500 lbs, allowing for a fuel tank capacity increase.
“This is fantastic news for Global 5000 aircraft operators who look forward to getting the most of this impressive high-speed jet and having access to even more destinations non-stop,” said Bob Horner, senior vice-president, sales.
Flying at its typical cruise speed of Mach 0.85 (907 km/h), the Global 5000 jet now offers a non-stop range of 5,200 NM (9,630 km) The extended range increases travel
flexibility to include key city pairs such as Dubai-Perth, 4,873 NM (9,025 km).
The Global 5000 high cruise speed of Mach 0.89 (950 km/hr) trims up to a full hour from long distance routes such as Jeddah-Jakarta (nine hours, 53 minutes)
