From The Archives: Rutan Composite Voyager Undergoes Flight Testing
The cover of the August 6, 1984 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology shows the Rutan Voyager in its flight test phase.
Designed by Burt Rutan for Voyager Aircraft Co., the two-place composite aircraft is shown flying over the Mojave Desert near Edwards AFB in California.
The aircraft was built specifically for a non-stop, unrefueled round-the-world flight that would later be attempted by Richard Rutan and his partner Jeana Yeager.
