The first production Piaggio P180 Avanti was delivered to Robert J. Pond. According to Piaggio the aircraft's fuel efficiency is the highest as any business turboprop at .84. naut. mi. per pound of fuel. 

The aircraft was still awaiting certification from Canada, Germany and Spain when the magazine was printed.
