From The Archives: American Jet Hustler

On the cover of the Feb. 2, 1976 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology was an American Jet Hustler. This a full-scale engineering mockup of the American Jet Industries Hustler 400 business/utility aircraft pictured on the ramp at Van Nuys Airport, Calif.

The aircraft is powered by an 850-eshp. Canadian Pratt & Whitney PT6A-41 turboprop and a standby 640-lb.-thrust Teledyne CAE J402-CA-400 turbojet.

The aircraft made its first flight which we reported on in the Jan. 23, 1978 issue, page 17.
