Sky Harbour Opens In Houston
Sky Harbour recently celebrated the opening of a private aviation campus at Houston’s Sugar Land Regional Airport with seven hangars. It plans to begin work on a second phase there in the fall. Hangars are offered in two sizes, a 12,000 sq. ft. hangar with 1,600 sq. ft. of office space with a dedicated ramp and outdoor parking. The other is a 6,400 sq. ft. hangar with 1,000 sq. ft. of office space with ramp and parking. Credit: Sky Harbour

Locations Under Development
Sky Harbour has plans for similar facilities at the Nashville International Airport and at Centennial Airport near Denver. It also recently signed a land lease agreement to begin development in Phoenix. Each will be constructed to the same design and plan. Credit: Sky Harbour

A Home-Basing Model
The idea to offer a model focused on “home basing” was derived from time spent in the military, says Tal Keinan, Sky Harbour CEO and a former F-16 pilot and air combat instructor for the Israel Air Force. When you’re a guest and another base far from home, sometimes maintenance issues arise that don’t get addressed. “And when you finally do come home, you appreciate what it is to have an actual home base…. The airplane is just happier when it’s at home.” Credit: Sky Harbour

A Private Hangar For Aircraft - Autos
A small campus with private hangars means no one else touches the aircraft once it’s inside. It’s not stacked or moved to make room for other aircraft, it is in a humidity-controlled environment and services are available. It also allows for spontaneity for last-minute trips, which can be a problem during busy times at other facilities when the aircraft needs pulled out and fueled. Here, that isn’t a problem, Keinan says. Credit: Sky Harbour

'No Skimping'
“We think it is the highest end product in the industry by far,” says Tal Keinan. “They’re beautiful. There’s no skimping on anything.” Credit: Sky Harbour
Sky Harbour has plans in the works for at least four U.S. private aviation campuses offering personal, private and premium hangars, in what it calls a “home-basing model.” The company recently opened a facility at Houston’s Sugar Land Regional Airport.
