Pre-Owned Business Jet Inventories Rise In November, Jefferies Reports

The number of used business jets for sale in November 2024 totaled 1,277, up 8% from a year ago, but down 1% from October, while average used jet pricing contracted 6% compared to a year ago, according to Jefferies analysts.

The number of jets for sale equals 5.2% of the total fleet, including all models and vintages, compared to a one-year average of 4.8%, Jefferies reports.

The number of jets for sale less than seven years out of production, meanwhile, rose 14% compared to a year ago, with inventories representing 4.1% of the fleet. By segment, midsized jets for sale rose 13% compared to a year ago, while light jets rose 8% and heavy jets for sale rose 2%.

The number of Bombardier business jets for sale declined 5% compared to a year ago with 74 units on the market, or 4.1% of the fleet. Average pricing, meanwhile, declined 1% compared to a year ago, with an average of $21.1 million.

The number of Cessna Citation business jets for sale totaled 136 aircraft, up 25% year-over-year, and representing 4.0% of the active fleet. Average list prices contracted 12% compared to a year ago and were down 5% compared to October.

Dassault inventory levels rose 53% compared to a year ago with 26 aircraft for sale, equating to 4.9% of the active fleet, compared to 3.2% a year ago. Meanwhile, pricing declined 1%, the report says.

The number of Embraer business aircraft for sale grew 20% compared to a year ago to 49 aircraft, representing 4.1% of the active fleet, while pricing declined 3% compared to a year ago to an average of $11.9 million.

Gulfstream business jets on the market rose 8% compared to a year ago to 92 aircraft, representing 4.0% of the fleet, compared to 3.8% of the fleet a year ago. Pricing, meanwhile, declined 13% compared to a year ago to an average price of $20.9 million.
