Honda Aircraft announced a new performance package to upgrade earlier model HondaJets with technical innovations introduced on later iterations of the light twinjet.

The HondaJet Advanced Performance Modification Group S (APMG S) package, announced on Dec. 18, is designed for owners of HondaJet Classic and HondaJet APMG jets. It comes with Garmin G3000 software and hardware enhancements and features from the HondaJet Elite S, such as its Advanced Steering Augmentation System.

Earlier model operators also gain graphical weight and balance features, enabling pilots to input loading and fuel data to estimate takeoff and landing weights.

The APMG S advancements support handling precision and expand crosswind capability of the twinjet, Honda Aircraft said. The upgrade also produces a 300-lb. increase in maximum takeoff weight (MTOW).

The Greensboro, North Carolina-based manufacturer unveiled the original APMG package for legacy HondaJet HA-420s in October 2018. The earlier upgrade reduced take-off field length, increased forward baggage capacity to 200 lb., and increased MTOW to 10,700 lb.

The FAA has certified the APMG S modifications package for installation on U.S.-registered HondaJets, with foreign certification expected to follow, Honda Aircraft said. The upgrade is available through the manufacturer’s Greensboro Service Center and its global network of 21 authorized service centers.

Honda Aircraft has already modified several pre-owned HondaJets with APMG S upgrades, which are available through its pre-owned aircraft program.

“As we approach the tenth anniversary of our first HondaJet delivery, we are excited to provide our customers the opportunity to upgrade their aircraft with the advanced technology and performance of more recent iterations,” said Amod Kelkar, Honda Aircraft senior vice president, chief commercial officer and HondaJet Echelon project leader.

“We are also pleased to offer multiple interior refurbishment options to further enhance aircraft receiving APMG S modifications at our Greensboro Service Center in order to build on aircraft asset value and ownership appeal.”
